Misinformation within the news seems to be the new normal today. This is surprising because technology has allowed the digital editing and mining process to improve vastly in the past few decades. Although, the improvement in technology has also increased the amount of news output in a given news cycle. News cycles are continuous instead of discrete. Stories are updated constantly around the clock as news breaks. That causes an explosion of news.
The regulators of news are the members of the Chambers of Congress. Thus, regulation is set from within the halls of Congress. Whether or not that news is regulated has been lately a matter of partisan focus. Former President Barack Obama has weighed in on the matter while speaking at a library-associated conference. The feed is offered by CNN in a video below:
Hopefully, the regulation of misinformation will be entertained by elected officials in the future.
