News anchors seem to have a strange understanding of work/life relationships. At work, their job is to get to the bottom of the story and tell both sides. Whereas, after work, life is back in play, and they are a mother and father, a brother and sister, a daughter or son. I am a scientist. When I leave work, I am a scientist. 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, I am still a scientist. What I say still is with me -- whether I leave work or not. Reporters/celebrities feel that they are excluded from this line of thought.
A recent example was brought to light from a video by CNN show below. To give the video context, CNN commentator Don Lemon defends Fox News Host Tucker Carlson (which is extremely rare). In the video, a random person confronts Tucker Carlson in a store. Tucker Carlson does not handle the situation effectively as shown:
Some might say that Tucker Carlson tried to diffuse the situation. Diffusing the situation is not accomplished by calling the random person "son." That is an avenue for a heated argument. On top of that, Tucker Carlson wants to be able to say whatever he chooses to on his show. And then choose to not be confronted by a person who is possibly put into danger by his word
Put on your big boy pants Tucker. Grow up and deal with what you dish...to the public.
