Facebook finds itself in an awkward position this week as a whistleblower testifies on Capitol Hill in front of Congress. The groundbreaking testimony has shattered the claims by CEO Mark Zuckerberg that Facebook as a company does not promote information but lets information flow freely without censoring.

Are we as a society really surprised that Facebook promotes a variety of hate-related information among its followers? Once you search for a topic on Google or Bing, a rabbit hole is opened up for the user to read hours and hours of misinformation. Be careful when discovering a rabbit hole.
Opinions aside, the government should regulate Facebook more tightly on promoting misinformation. Mrs. Haugen's testimony supports such regulations.
