A Few Steps Toward Achieving Greatness by Simon Sinek - Easy To Follow?

Each of us strives to be a better person.  How better is defined is unique to each of us?  What I might consider better might differ greatly from what you consider 'better?  In fact, some people might hold views that are 180 degrees different that from you and me.  All in all, each of us would like to be better in our daily and long-term lives.  How is this accomplished?

How does a global prescription fulfill success in each of our lives?

Turns out that the common denominators toward success do not differ greatly right?  But the wording to tailor each of the common denominators might differ greatly from person to person.  What do I mean by this?

In the YouTube video below, motivational speaker Simon Sinek describes success as it pertains to leading organizations.  More specifically, Simon describes steps that each of us can take that would improve our daily lives below:

Each of us might not run a major corporation in the immediate future.  In fact, some of us never at all.  That does not mean that the rules do not apply toward running a household.  Or running a classroom full of students.  Or a research laboratory full of graduate students and postdoctoral students.

Rigid people would see the rules for change about and limit them only toward leading large corporations.  But flexible people - who are in the game of change to win will try to find similarities in their lives. Similarities in which they can apply to their own lives and be successful.

Can you find any?

In the video above, Simon Sinek tells a story about finishing a running race with a friend.  In the story, he shares the two ways to perceive the world.  His friend is asked by him if a fee bagel sounds attractive. The friend remarks that the line is too long to wait for a free bagel.  Simon Sinek responds that the bagel is free.  The friend responds that the line is too long.

One sees the opportunity - free bagel.

While the other see the barrier.

How do you think?

Are you holding yourself back by only viewing the barriers?
