Currently, a sizeable portion of U.S. residents agrees that wearing a mask reduces the spread of COVID-19. With that being said, a second surge is occurring in geographical areas where mask mandates are being challenged. Why someone would challenge a mask mandate? I don't know. My own brother challenges a mask mandate too. Which I believe is not the right way to proceed. But he is free to believe whatever he feels necessary.
Children return to schools across the nation over the next week or two. With a mixed message on mask mandates, COVID-19 rates are going to increase. What will follow? Guess. I would imagine more shutdowns. Yes, folks. Give people freedom from wearing masks that have been vaccinated and what happens? The people who have been vaccinated still wear masks while those who have not been vaccinated proceed to take off those masks. Amazing.
That is exactly what the Governor of Florida is doing. As school opens up today, Governor Rick DeSantis is offering parents a way out from requiring their children to wear masks while in class. This news comes at a time when children under 12 are still not vaccinated. Why would I let my child attend class if choose to let their children not wear masks?
In the video below from CNN, a Pediatric Physician is interviewed from a hospital in Texas. Another state has a high rate of residents challenging mask mandates. Listen to the interview and think about what the physician is saying:
After watching the video, why would anyone challenge a mask mandate?
