Checklist for Healthcare Providers Who Are Looking To Adopt/Incorporate Artificial Intelligence Into Healthcare System

Photo: Forbes

Artificial Intelligence has been a topic of conversation across all sectors.  Especially when looking for predictions about the future of the workforce.  What role will Artificial Intelligence (AI) play in the workforce?  What role does AI play now?  Answers to these questions vary as AI is developed daily for technology applications.

Recently, a brief from Politico Future Pulse listed a 'checklist' that Healthcare providers should consider when transitioning to AI.  Below are the 6 points listed on the checklist:

1. A use case, including how a proposed system is expected to help patients and improve health system efficiency or treatment equity

2. A clear specification of the task the system performs to achieve those goals

3. Benchmarks to evaluate the system’s success or failure

4. An understanding of how the system performs for different groups of people

5. A grasp of a system’s limits and when it shouldn’t be used

6. A protocol for monitoring systems to ensure it’s working under real-world conditions

While considering the 6 above items, consider how AI might change the atmosphere in your own workplace.

More on AI coming.

Former President Donald Trump Is The Greatest Threat To Democracy (and National Security).

Photo: Republican National Lawyers Association

Anyone who listened to the former President's speech last weekend on Veteran's Day will recognize the language used as copied from dictators Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.  Which is dangerous.  Now, the 2024 Presidential Candidate has been leaking through various news outlets what the next Trump Administration looks like.  And that my friends is extremely dangerous.  Read/watch on.

The following video by MSNBC highlights recent statements from Mike Davis.  Mike Davis is a dangerous man.  Working as Senator Grassely's office along with other high places in Washington, he presents a great threat.  The Trump Administration might install Mike Davis as an Attorney General.  In the following video, the threats to our democracy are spelled out in Mike Davis's own words:

Wow!  That is all I have to say.  I will process this news over the next few days.

The Era of Saying 'No' to Multi-Family Housing Development in California is Ending!

Photo: Mountain Jackpot

Living in the North Valley of Los Angeles, I hear a lot of "Not In My Back Yard" (NIMBY) toward the development of multi-family housing (i.e., apartments including high-rises). Across the State of California, as legislature passes that is supposed to unleash a new wave of affordable housing development, the actual construction has yet to ensue. Why?

As one can imagine, the opposition is small but strong. The opposing constituents are surgical in their approach to antagonism toward multi-family housing development. Out of this dismal opposition, good news finally arises for advocates of multi-family housing (i.e., affordable housing). Below is an update from Politico California Playbook's morning briefing on the matter:

A YEAR FOR YIMBYS — Pro-housing activists had a blockbuster year in the Legislature, notching some of their biggest wins since the YIMBY (Yes in My Backyard) movement got its start in the Bay Area more than a decade ago. Newsom cemented those victories Wednesday by signing dozens of housing measures into law. The most significant, Senate Bill 423 by Scott Wiener, expands state rules that streamline housing construction in cities that haven’t met their state-assigned housing goals. It also does away with an exemption for parts of the coastal zone. That could lead to urban areas of the coast looking more like Miami and Fort Lauderdale where high rises proliferate near the sea. Other major victories for housing groups: Senate Bill 4, also by Wiener, which allows religious groups to more easily build affordable housing on their land; Assembly Bill 1633 by Phil Ting, which limits the ability to challenge projects under the California Environmental Quality Act, or CEQA; and Assembly Bills 976 and 1033, also by Ting, which make it easier to sell or rent backyard cottages. Wiener took a victory lap on Wednesday night. “The era of saying no to housing is coming to an end,” he said.

Eventually, housing will be developed in urban neighborhoods that were only once home to single-family homes. Why? Simply space. There is no affordable housing, and shortages will eventually drive the development of those who seek it.   Families that work in various cities need to get to work. The only significant opposition I see is if transit development outpaces the construction of apartments. Both are needed. However, if California's major cities can be better connected with transit (buses and trains), the opposition could theoretically use this argument to stave off multi-family housing development. I do not see that happening. Both are sorely needed to accommodate the growing population of California.

Former President Trump Over Estimates Property Value And Insults Judges - Makes Fun Of Legal System

Photo: Entrepreneur

What is the value of a home?  An 'appraisal' is done by a certified person who understands the valuation process to get that value.  That process might be somewhat controversial to some, but ultimately, the values land in a reasonable range (deals).  The story is entirely different if the question's worth belongs to former President Trump.

The former President Trump is on trial in New York along with his two sons.  Charges stem from years of over-valuation (highly inflated) property values.  Late last month, Judge Engoron ordered that all Trump assets operating under a New York State business license be effectively canceled.  It is not allowed to be used in the state of New York.  This is terrible news.  More on that in a later post.

Ultimately, the Trumps are being legally disassembled for bank fraud that has persisted for years.  Former President Trump has claimed ignorance at certain times when deposed by lawyers on valuations.  Although, the prosecution has shown that nothing would be issued with the eyes of 'DJT' (Donald J. Trump).  This is explained in the video below by MeidasTouch:

What baffles me is how many people in the city of New York knew of former President Trump's fraudulent practices and remained silent throughout his 2016 bid for the White House Office?

Former President Trump has practiced the art of 'NDA' - Non-Disclosure Agreement for decades.  That is until the White House.  Ultimately, the time in office brings the entire Trump Organization down to the ground.  Stay tuned.

How Do Residents of Maui Recover From The Recent Fires?

Photo: BBC

When the town of a community looks like a war-torn, burned-down city, how do residents recover?

That is the question for those who call home to Lahaina on Maui.  The recent fires have devastated the entire community.  For over 75% of residents, that means looking for jobs that are different from those they held in the past:

Earlier that day, a fire had been spotted and put out in her vibrant Lahaina neighborhood. But by late afternoon, Di Bari was hearing of more fires elsewhere on the island. The island’s resources, she knew, were stretched thin.

“When I saw that fire reignite … we knew we were on our own,” she said.

In Lahaina, a historic area and popular tourist destination that was hit particularly hard by the fires, restaurants are big business.

As of May 2022, nearly 17% of people employed in the Kahului metropolitan area, which includes Lahaina, worked in food preparation and service — more than in any other sector. Nationally, about 8.5% of workers are employed in food prep and service, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Restaurants are an important part of the tourism sector, which is responsible for 75% of all private-sector jobs in Maui. Accommodation and food services, including arts and entertainment, account for the largest share of those jobs.

What would you do in that terrible situation?  To make matters worse, new money from outside developers/investors threatens to buy all real estate.  That would threaten the entire history of Lahaina and greater Maui.  The past may be forgotten while the demographics change.  Is Lahaina experiencing gentrification due to climate change effects?

If the tourism industry is gone (i.e., hotels and restaurants have burned to the ground), where will these prior workers find work?  How does a town survive such a disaster?  Especially with the reality that the residents live on an island?  Where is the next job coming from?

Stay tuned!

How Is Artificial Intelligence Being Used In Politics - An Introduction

 h

Photo:

By no means am I an authority on Artificial Intelligence (AI).  Although, as I usually do often, pass on information or conversation that I find particularly fascinating about topics such as AI. The brief conversation below was posted on the Politico Digital newsletter and is worth reading below:

The future of artificial intelligence in politics is already here. You just haven’t noticed it.

That’s according to digital strategist Eric Wilson, managing partner at Startup Caucus, an incubator for Republican campaign tech.

Wilson, who served as digital director for Marco Rubio’s 2016 campaign, has been using AI tools one way or another for years, starting with machine learning algorithms for social media and email spam filters, and is now watching the current wave of generative AI shape up as a potential disruptive force in this election cycle.

Currently a senior vice president for strategy at the public-affairs firm Bullpen Strategy Group, Wilson says the handful of AI-enhanced ads that have run in the opening stages of the 2024 race are just the tip of the iceberg. There’s already a lot of AI being deployed beneath the surface of politics, in less dramatic ways.

But political operatives like Wilson also face a hurdle: Many of the most popular and powerful new generative AI models, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Meta’s Llama, often draw a line at political content.

Though AI companies’ policies are still evolving, and the internal workings of their models are opaque, their applications regularly decline to engage with requests that seem overtly political. Asked Tuesday morning to generate a case for voting for Donald Trump over Joe Biden, the Llama-2-70b model responded, “[I]t goes against my programming rules to promote harmful, unethical, racist, sexist, toxic, dangerous, or illegal content.” Asked to write a fundraising email for Biden, it refused to “assist with drafting fundraising emails or any other form of political campaigning.”

In an interview, Wilson vented his frustration with the limits imposed by AI platforms on campaign applications — and also argued that Microsoft’s late-July decision to ban political ads from its in-house advertising platform bodes poorly for campaigns’ ability to access large tech firms’ offerings in general.

Wilson would like to see tech platforms loosen their restrictive approach to political use, at least when it comes to properly registered campaigns and committees. This interview was edited for length and clarity.

We’ve seen a lot of warnings about AI’s potential effect on politics. You’re not worried about opening the floodgates?

The moral panic around AI, especially in politics, is way overblown. The way it’s going to be integrated into this cycle is very mundane, which is like helping write press releases and social media copy, and just speeding up the process as we’re seeing it in any other industry.

The real applications are fundamentally boring and don’t live up to the panic around “Robots are going to take our democracy.”

How are you actually using it?

It’s definitely top of mind for me in all the projects that I’m working on. I use it personally to help with drafting blog posts, editing transcripts for my podcast, generating ideas for social media copy, and to generate the images I use for websites.

On a professional level, we’re investing in companies from Startup Caucus that have used AI for a while, but we’re also starting to look at what the possibilities are with large language models. We’re building products for clients that incorporate the latest in artificial intelligence to help them transcribe videos, and analyze videos. It’s a sea change.

What’s the biggest obstacle to injecting AI into the political process?

The biggest roadblock is corporate policies around politics. It’s always nerve-racking building software on dependencies that you might not be allowed to use in the future. Microsoft, for example, banned all political ads on their advertising network last week. You have OpenAI saying it can’t be used for these political use cases.

Are there alternatives to the big corporate platforms? Are people using open-source models?

Yeah, if you’re serious about building for the political space, you start with one of the open large language models, and then the important part is training it on your data sets.

How else are campaigns getting around these roadblocks?

You say, “Draft a marketing email about this topic” and then you go in and change it to have a fundraising call to action. Current AI models are set off by certain political terms or pitching candidates.

That sounds like a pain.

There are also purpose-built tools on the right and the left for writing emails on behalf of campaigns.

Democrats have invested in a company called Quiller that helps write fundraising emails and they’ve got a number of candidates doing that. There’s another platform called Localist that’s nonpartisan, that helps campaigns with copywriting.

Elon Musk has marketed his new xAI as a politically incorrect alternative to existing chatbots. Does it have the potential to become the preferred AI for Republican campaigns?

I haven’t followed it.

What is happening in the world of professional politics, talking about the actual campaigns and people supporting candidates, is more mundane. It’s the ways to make operations smarter, more effective, more efficient, and that doesn’t have to be partisan.

That’s part of the frustration with these tech companies shutting off legitimate political actors, campaigns that are registered with the FEC, the IRS, that should be able to use cutting-edge technology to reach voters and advance their message.

Is that the standard you think should apply to political use cases for AI? Permit political use by properly registered campaigns and committees?

That’s one place I would start. Addressing the challenges of political speech requires more nuance than an outright ban, which is the preferred policy approach of big tech right now.

What about deepfakes?

We haven’t had a single instance of a deepfake used by legitimate political actors, unless it’s been disclosed.

What about the concern that less scrupulous political actors will be able to use deepfakes to fool voters?

That risk exists in every industry, not just politics, and you just made a very compelling reason for why official candidates, campaigns and parties should be able to respond to the best of their abilities with all the tools that are available.

The way you stop the bad actors is not by punishing the good guys.

Special Prosecutor Jack Smith Unveils Yet Another Indictment - For Jan. 6th Insurrection

Photo: NY Times

As I speculated a few years ago to my colleague, "Historians will write the truth about the corruption surrounding President Trump..."  Last night, Special Counsel Jack Smith also discussed a written indictment about President Trump.  Concerning President Trump's giant conspiracy to overturn the 202 Presidential Election and put former Vice President Mike Pence's life in danger:

The truth will continue to be revealed as we enter 2024 and beyond - Stay Tuned.

In the following video by CNN, New York Times Columnist Thomas Friedman is interviewed regarding President Biden's re-election bid while approaching mid to late eighties in age and Vice President Kamala Harris's legitimacy:

If America was able to stand 4 years with a disastrous President Trump, then a successor (in the case of an emergency) like Vice President Harris would be welcome to the American people.  She would be great compared to that Clown - President Trump.

Fox News Methodology: "Verification in Reverse"

Photo: Vanity Fair

What is the goal of news?  Is it to report the facts of a given situation?  Is it to promote the mission of the news organization?  Is it to earn returns for investors (i.e., shareholders) of the new corporation's stockholders?  The defamation suit involving Fox News and Dominion Voting Inc brought these questions back into the spotlight of public debate.

After Fox News settled with Dominion for $778 million, there has been one 'lay-off' of a Fox News employee -- Tucker Carlson.  Anyone who has watched Tucker Carlson can easily see that the nonsense that comes out of his mouth is dangerous.  This is not news.

If it is not news, then what is it?

On a segment of MSNBC's Rachel Maddow show, Professor Jay Rosen of New York University was interviewed regarding this type of journalism.  Professor Rosen is a professor of journalism at the university.  Here is a short analysis of the type of 'news' that Fox News puts out on air:

Fox News Is Still Not Out Of Legal Peril

Photo:NY Times

Over the last few months, Americans (and the world) have heard about the potential bombshell dropped on Fox News in regard to their defamation lawsuit with Dominion voting inc.  Bits and pieces in the form of text messages have surfaced in the news which show Fox News employees willingly spread lies about the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.  President Biden won fare and square.

In the video below, Brian Cohen Taylor and Glenn Kirshner discuss the litigation and settlement of Fox with Dominion and the potential legal battles ahead.

What struck me as interesting was that Fox News could potentially have to rewrite their business insurance contracts to ensure that the stock price will not be at risk any further.  This opens the employees up to massive litigation from shareholders if they return to their normal practices of spreading lies to Fox News viewers.  Stay tuned!

Floridians (and other States) May Regret Banning Books And Language?

Photo: WJCT News

Governor Rick DeSantis has been on a roll to eliminate any talk of LGBTQ issues in K-12 settings.  Additionally, a widespread ban on various books (of his administration's choice) has been banned too in schools across Florida.  The act has brought out opponents of the ban and supporters to local school board meetings.

The news has been flooded with supporters of the ban (Trump supporters - mainly).  Recently, MSNBC News Anchor Stephanie Rule of 11th Hour on MSNBC aired some interesting footage at a local school meeting in Florida.  Specifically, a commander from the Navy (retired) spoke about the potential fall-out consequences of a book ban:

California Governor Gives An Interview On Hot Topics Across The U.S.

Photo: NBC

Governor Gavin Newsom has come under considerable scrutiny over handling COVID-19 in California.  That said, he has handled the situation as best as possible given an uncertain (and unknowledgeable) President Trump handing out misinformation at every chance.  Now that we are past President Trump, Governor Newsom has slid out of the mainstream limelight and is focusing on his day job.  Governing California.

Not that Governor Newsom was at risk of losing sight of California.  After surviving a recall, Gavin Newsom has proved that his performance (and job) during COVID-19 was suitable (quite well actually) given the parameters at hand.  Recently, Governor Newsome traveled over the Easter Holiday weekend to three states in the East to discuss the absurdity of Republican Bills being produced and introduced across the United States.

Governor Newsom sat down with former White House Speaker Jen Psaki for an interview about the trip and governing in California:

Nice.

How Is Learning At College Institutions Changing Post Covid-19?

Photo: VOX

There is no debate as to whether the colleges are seen changes in students post-COVID.  Each instructor I speak to agrees without dispute.  Whether the students are cheating more is a matter of debate?  Are students cheating more post-COVID?

In the video below by MSNBC, Morning Joe's, Joe Scarborough interviews a reporter on a released article discussing this exact issue.  What is fascinating about this interview is the inclusion of 'ChatGPT':

ChatGPT is an AI bot that can be programmed by a student through a website.  The student (or person) puts in the required inputs (parameters -- statements, facts, numbers, etc.) and the AI bot (ChatGPT) will spit out a report.  The AI assembles the inputs with knowledge from the internet to produce a paper.

Cheating? Using such a website would be cheating.  Although, the plethora of report writers and websites offering to cheat is ubiquitous.  ChatGPT is just the latest flavor.

The video above holds a much deeper conversation to be had at Universities.  How has the student changed post-COVID?  How has the student changed, period?  But this may be where we are getting it wrong.

Another important question might be: How does society view a university education?

Or: How do universities include all students?  Include diversity?

What does each student get out of a university education?

Republicans are big on bashing "Woke" or "Wokism".  In reality, part of society would like to be included in the historical accounts of our fine nation (or nation - maybe not so nice).  Including accurate historical accounts of our nation is essential for growing as a nation.

The division among racial groups based on the obvious 'white privilege' is a major problem.  A large majority of my friends and colleges choose to deny 'white privilege.'

Back to post-COVID education.  Students were in an environment learning (from their bedroom) with only technology (the internet) to ask questions during COVID.  To expect them to know another method might be premature.  Maybe university time should be devoted to teaching students how to learn again.  Before moving forward.

Take a couple of steps back and teach a student how to learn.  That time spent will better serve the student compared to pushing on the accelerator and expecting the student to catch up.  The purpose of a learning institution is to teach students to learn about themselves and how they learn.  Why not focus on that mission?

Last but not least, we need to take the blame off of the student.  Professors and administrators along with staff should bear more responsibility for the lack of effort of each student.

Republican Politicians Might Be Distancing Themselves From Fox News And President Trump?

Photo: The Atlantic

The following video of MSNBC's Morning Joe gives viewers a more accurate picture of the changing view among Republicans about Fox News anchors promoting false narratives on air.  Specifically, the narrative that January 6th was a 'peaceful protest':

In the following video by MSNBC, Lawrence O'Donnell gives us more information about the defamation lawsuit between Fox News and Dominion.  Specifically, the actual feeling about President Trump by loyalists (on air) such as Tucker Carlson seems to be divergent:

Fox News Anchors Will Most Likely Get Crushed In Defamatory Lawsuit Over 2020 Fraud Claims

Photo:  NPR

Election fraud claims have been widespread on right-wing news media outlets after the 2020 Presidential election.  Fox News has been promoting the false narrative that the 2020 election was stolen.  I wonder why Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene promote such a false narrative.  Especially when they, too were elected in the 2020 election?

Fox News has peddled lies to a large audience over the last decade.  With their growing popularity among conservative audiences, their rating seems proportional to the level of lies.  Which is concerning.  People watch that nonsense and go to family gatherings to promote false narratives.  Our family has direct experience with such nonsense.  It is concerning.

What will happen to Fox News?  Will the news organization be held liable for defamation of Dominion Voting?

In the video by CNN, a first amendment attorney - Floyd Abrams is interviewed about Fox News defamatory lawsuit.  Listen to his brief analysis:

Ralph Nader: "The Progenitor of Inequalities – Corporate Personhood vs. Human Beings"

Photo: Investopedia

Corporations are kind to their board and shareholders.  Some are even kind to their workers too.  To an extent that is to their workers.  Overall, the idea is to profit and give back to their respective shareholders.  Shareholders who invest capital (i.e. money) into the coporation to assist with expenses (operational, expansive, and adjusting).  Corporate greed is common amongst corporations which gives rise to the 'rich get richer' while the poorer continue to get poorer.  Who looks out for the small guy?

Iconic Activists such as Ralph Nader do!

Ralph Nader has lived a life of combatting corporate greed and over reach.

In a recent newsletter, Ralph Nader discusses briefly how corporations produce 'inequality' rather than combat it over time:

The Progenitor of Inequalities – Corporate Personhood vs. Human Beings

The word “inequality” is everywhere in the media. It usually refers either to race, gender, rich vs. poor, or other differences between human beings. Absent from the public debate is the biggest perpetrator of “inequality” against human beings – the corporate entity itself.

Ever since 1886 when a U.S. Supreme Court reporter, in a headnote for the Court’s opinion, wrote that corporations possessed equal rights under the Constitution, judges and corporatist legislators have equipped corporations with an arsenal of inequitable rights. (The Constitution makes no mention whatsoever of “corporation” or “company”).

How is that possible with the 14th Amendment mandating equal protection under the law? Because this central provision for our alleged rule of law didn’t take into account the contrivances of corporate lawyers, corporate judges and corporate-indentured lawmakers.

Corporations that are created by state charters are deemed “artificial persons.” States like Delaware and Nevada have made a revenue business out of chartering corporations under permissive laws that concentrate power at the top of autocratic commercial hierarchies, leaving their shareholder-owners with very few options other than to sell. Since the early 1800s, states have chartered corporations giving their shareholders limited liability. The maximum they can lose is the amount of dollars invested in their company’s stocks or bonds. The modern history of corporate law is now aimed at maximizing the limited liability of the corporation itself.

The following twelve examples of inequality are shocking:

1) The corporate entity protects owners and shareholders from business debts and other liabilities. Yet, individual business owners are not personally shielded from business related debts or liabilities.

2) Bankruptcy laws favor corporations mightily over individuals. Bankrupt corporations can cancel their labor union contracts, are free from lawsuit liabilities against them, and can even get judges to grant retention bonuses for the culpable executives so they can provide parties with their alleged historical memory. Then under Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the company, having shed its liabilities, can reorganize and be back in business. If it is a giant bankrupt company like General Motors was in 2009, its recreation can get many billions of taxpayer dollars because it is considered “too big to fail.” Compare all these privileges with an individual going bankrupt no matter how wealthy he or she may have been. No contest.

3) Under criminal laws, corporations have huge advantages. Unlike most individuals who commit serious crimes, corporations have lawyers who shield them with “no-prosecution” or “deferred prosecution” agreements instead of criminal penalties. Unlike individual criminals, corporations cannot be jailed, and are almost never executed (that is having their charter pulled and put out of business, unless they are small business crooks). Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said the big banks may even be too big to be prosecuted. While the big corporations, having cost the lives of many people and sickened more, continue on their merry profiteering ways. In this category are the large drug, chemical, auto, oil, coal and hospital chains.

4) Wrongfully injured people suing corporations under tort law find corporations can endlessly delay, with their insured or deductible legal expenses. Victims who are desperate for money to pay medical and other bills, cannot deduct their legal expenses and may not have insurance. Corporations can force low settlements because of their inequality of status and power.

5) Unequal taxation is a Niagara of inequality. The top federal tax rate for individuals is 37% and only 21% for corporations, before a plethora of loopholes. Why should an individual businessperson or any individual have to pay 37% and face an economic disadvantage vis-a-vis a competitor that only pays 21%? The baseless response is that there is a rational classification for this unfairness – nonsense.

6) Unlike individuals, corporations can create their own parents – (holding companies) for evasive purposes. They can also create hundreds of children (subsidiaries) to evade all kinds of law enforcement. The tax and non-regulatory haven of the Grand Cayman Islands has thousands of corporations “domiciled” there. One large building – Ugland House – “houses” 12,000 corporations. Real humans would be insufferably cramped if they attempted to quarter themselves with such inorganic efficiencies.

7) Until the decision last month by the Third Circuit of Appeals, saying no to profitable Johnson & Johnson’s corporate lawyers, corporations could create a subsidiary and put in it all the pending lawsuits by injured consumers, declare the subsidiary bankrupt and then leave the harmed plaintiffs with little recourse. This is called the “Texas two-step” a creation of corporate lawyers.

8) Corporations’ one-sided contracts requiring you to sign or click on, turn you into contract peons. Freedom of contract is gone. Your status is reduced to obeying the harsh impositions by banks, auto dealers, insurance companies, credit card companies, utilities, etc. Try to escape and go to a competitor. No dice. They all have the same restrictions, with minor variations. These long, inscrutable fine-print handcuffs require you to waive your right to go to court for a trial by a jury of your peers.

9) The antitrust laws, being little enforced over the years, have resulted in monopolies or shared monopolies, replete with manipulative powers that make a mockery out of an alleged free marketplace. How’s that for inequality – destroying the right to and benefits from a competitive market?

10) Corporations are given monopoly licenses by the FCC to control 24/7 what we own – the public airwaves. The radio and TV corporations get this bonanza free of charge along with the power to decide who gets on and who doesn’t. No individual could either have such a status or in any way challenge these license renewals made virtually automatic by the corporatized U.S. Federal Communications Commission.

11) Emanating from these inequalities, embedded in corporate-lobbied unequal laws, are the realities of raw economic, political and cultural power that intimidate and coerce mere human mortals. Corporations are able to survive and thrive after horrendous overcharges, crimes and casualties – the opioid and other drug companies, the vast toxic pollution of air, water and food, the crimes of Wall Street and the exploitation of workers’ health and economic well-being. Corporations continue, as they are not human, without feeling the sanctions of social shame, guilt or ostracism. Mere humans have no such inherent escapes.

12) Other derivative political power allows corporations to strategically plan and control the lives of humans with algorithms and monopoly patents. They get away with direct marketing that exploits children and circumvents their parents’ authority, breaking long-held cultural barriers to mass gambling online, and continuing to discriminate against women and minorities, as workers and consumers.

13) The biggest prize of all for the uses of corporate-dominant inequality over real people is the control of the Congress, state legislatures, country boards, city councils, and elections along with the selection of judges. Their assemblage of ever larger entrenched legal and illegal inequalities produces a multiplier effect, achieving deeper inequalities as corporate control over capital, labor, technology and choice of jurisdictions here and abroad intensifies their privileges and immunities.

All these drives for maximum power and control are maturing the corporate state – as Wall Street and Washington merge. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in a formal message to Congress in 1938, called the control of government by private power “fascism.” In 1933 Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis wrote an opinion warning about big corporations becoming a “Frankenstein monster” in our midst.

So, all you fighters against inequality between people leap into the Big Leagues and confront the biggest progenitors of inequalities of all – giant corporations. Grab hold of the roots if you wish to prevent the bitter fruits. End cruel exploitation provided by these double standards.

How much do you know about corporations?  Time to learn.  Keep learning if you have already started. The more educated we are a society, the bettter off that society will be heading into the future.

Former UK Prime Minister Speaks Out Against Misinformation Propagated By Fox News Anchor Tucker Carlson

Photo: Wikipedia

Clown, news anchor and Fox media superstar Tucker Carlson has a tremendous amount of opinion to share each night. And that opinion is wildly popular among Fox viewers. Additionally, that opinion is solidified along with another opinion (and fact) to form political views. So what is wrong with this process? Not much, except that the idea is interpreted by other politicians (Conservative and Democratic) as immensely troubling.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has gone on a speaking tour worldwide lately. Among other topics, Tucker Carlon's misinformation campaign is one of them. See for yourself in the short video below:

Tucker Carlson has always been dangerous. Now he is dangerous - spreading misinformation to people who act on it. Why do I say scary? Because when confronted about the views he lay on his show, he claims that it is an act (and that the current location - a store - is not an appropriate place to discuss misinformation). See for yourself in the video below:

Wow. It is ok to spread lies, but don't confront him on it in public. Because, according to Tucker Carlson, that is not appropriate. Meanwhile, some Americans watch his show and form political opinions each night. And some of those opinions could turn into action - like Jan 6th action. Due to misinformation.

On the discussion whether it was appropriate to approach him on vacation, I fall on the side of 'own your views all of the time.'   Tucker Carlson should have to face his opponents at any time.  That is the weight of spewing misinformation - and getting paid a heck of a lot of money.

MTG = Marjorie Taylor Greene -- Who Is This Elected Official From Georgia?

Photo: The Nation

The last election was a midterm election.  Which traditionally, with a Democratic President in the White House, would swing to the Republican Party.  With a majority.  A Red Wave.  Did that happen in Congress?  No, the House was taken by a small margin to the Republican Party.  One Republican was Marjorie Taylor Greene.  Who is she?

A daughter of a construction/contracting business owner?  A divorced wife?   A cross-fit instructor?

Yep, those are her qualifications for election...and Georgia ate them up and elected her to office.

Recently, Marjorie Taylor Greene was highlighted on the Medhi Hasan Show.  Medhi Hasan gave us an excellent short biography of the last few years of Marjorie Taylor Greene.  Highlighting (if you can say that with a straight face) her few accomplishments along with her far-right conspiracy theories.  Watch the show below:
